VND11.7 billion raised for the poor

As much as VND11.7 billion (USD556,586) were raised for the “Fund for the Poor” of Quang Ninh province during a live broadcast of the provincial Radio and Television Station on December 28.

President of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Ngoc Minh said, the “Fund for the Poor” financed construction and upgrade of more than 2,000 houses for local poor people in 2011.

The fund also provided capital, breeding animals and seeds for thousands of families, assisted poor kids in pursuing their study and gave medical checks-up for the disadvantaged.
