VN requests China to stop patrolling in Truong Sa Archipelago

Vietnamese Spokesperson stressed that China’s deployment of fisheries patrol boats to Truong Sa Archipelago severely violated Vietnam’s sovereignty over the islands.

Spokesperson Nguyen Phuong Nga of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on April 5 in Hanoi stressed that China’s deployment of large fisheries patrol boats to Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago on April 1 severely violated Vietnam’s sovereignty over the islands.

Mrs. Nga made the statement on Monday at reporters’ question about Vietnam’s response to China’s deployment of two large fisheries boats to the Truong Sa Archipelago.

According to the Vietnamese Spokesperson, Vietnam claims undeniable sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa Archipelagos and requests the Chinese side to put an end to such action and avoid any move which would complicate the issues in the Eastern Sea and weaken peace, stability and cooperation in the region.
