Vietnam's Covid-19 tally surpasses 6 million

The Vietnamese Ministry of Health on Sunday reported an additional 209,501 Covid-19 infections, raising the country's patient tally to over 6.11 million.

According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in all 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (29,269), Nghe An (10,243), Dak Lak (7,569), Phu Tho (6,534), and Bac Ninh (6,417). The northern province of Bac Giang today added 42,533 more infections to the national tally.

As of Sunday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 6.112.648. The country now stands 20th among 225 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include Hanoi (808,384), HCM City (568,772), Binh Duong (339,051), Bac Ninh (224,142), and Nghe An (216,172).

On March 13, an additional 95,538 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 3,163,571.

On Sunday evening, a further 95 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 41,385. The high fatalities were reported in some localities including Hanoi (12), Quang Nam (11), Binh Dinh (5), Danang (5), Quang Ninh (5), Bac Giang (4), Dak Lak (4), Nam Dinh (4), and Phu Tho (4).

Vietnam on March 12 administered 215,529 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, raising the total number of doses given to local people to over 200.17 million.
