Vietnam to import 10.1 million cubic metres of petrol

Petroleum firms have been requested to import a minimum of 10.1 million cubic metres of petroleum products this year.

Of the total volume, diesel will top the list with 5.52 million cubic metres; followed by gasoline with 3.48 million cubic metres, jet fuel with 300,000 cubic metres and kerosene with 12,000 cubic metres.

The state-owned Vietnam National Petroleum Corp (Petrolimex), the country’s biggest petroleum trader, was assigned to import 5.84 million cubic metres of the products in 2012.

The PetroVietnam Oil Corp (PV Oil) was asked to import over 1.26 million cubic metres and Petec Trading & Investment Corporation, 503,000 cubic metres of petroleum products during the year.

The Petrolimex Jet Fuel Joint Stock Company (PJF) will be responsible for importing 5,000 cubic metres of jet fuel this year.

Based on the assigned volume, petroleum traders must map out their own petroleum importation plans in accordance with the quantity of petroleum products produced by the Dung Quat Oil Refinery in a bid to ensure sufficient supply for the domestic market, the ministry emphasised.

The ministry added that the volume of petroleum importation should not be lower than the minimum request and imports must be conducted on schedule under three-month and six-month plans.
