Vietnam to host 10 international sporting events in 2011

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan has approved the proposal to host 10 big international sporting events this year.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan has approved the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s proposal to host 10 big international sporting events this year.

Accordingly, the Swimming Championships for different age groups in Southeast Asia will take place in the central city of Da Nang in June, while the 17th Southeast Asian Junior Table Tennis Championships will be held in the northern province Hai Duong.

Hanoi will be the venue for two tournaments: the second qualifying round of the 2012 men’s football Olympic in June and the Southeast Asia Junior Gymnastics in July.

The U16 Asian Men’s Basketball Championships will be organised in the central province of Khanh Hoa in October.Ho Chi Minh City will host five events, including the Asian U19 Women’s Football Festival in June, the 2014 World Cup’s qualifying round for Asia in June and July, the World Vovinam Championships in July, the final round of the Asian Women’s Football Championships in October, and the Asian U19 Men’s Football Championships’ qualifying round for Group F in October and November.
