President Truong Tan Sang has decided to honour Meritorious and People’s Teachers titles to 610 outstanding teachers.
610 outstanding teachers are honoured with Meritorious and People’s Teachers titles
Of the total, 40 will be granted the People’s Teacher title and 570 the Meritorious Teacher title.
Nine people from the Ministry of Education and Training will be presented with the Meritorious Teacher title, including Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan and Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Vinh Hien.
HCM City took the lead for having 25 honoured teachers while Hanoi has only five.
According to the Ministry of Education and Training’s council for assessing and nominating Meritorious and People’s Teachers titles, the tiles are aimed to honour teachers and administers who have outstanding achievements and contributed greatly to the national education system, as well as raise their prestige.
Those who are granted with People’s Teacher title must satisfy several criteria, including loyalty to the nation, occupational morals, love of students, competence, great contribution to the national education, great influence in the society, work as a teacher for at least 20 years or working in the field of education for at least 25 years with a minimum 15 years being a teacher.
Meritorious teachers must meet less criteria, including loyalty to the nation, occupational morals, love to students, great contributions to the national education, prestige among colleagues and the people, work as a teacher for at least 15 years or working in the field of education for a minimum 20 years with a minimum 10 years being a teacher.
