A nine-year-old boy in Hanoi has become the youngest person in Asia to set foot on the South Pole.

Pham Vu Thieu Quang, a fourth grader, reached the Antarctica on Feb 3.
Accompanied by his father, he is now visiting different locations in the freezing area.
Quang is also youngest person in the world to set foot on Base W. in Antarctica.
Quang left Hanoi on Jan 27 for Buenos Aires, Argentina before moving to Ushuia, the southernmost city of Argentina.
He then boarded MS Fram - Hurtigruten cruise ship to the South Pole in their self-funded trip.
Quang was the youngest passenger on board and thus loved by all crew members, his father Pham Quang Vinh wrote on Facebook.
Quang has seen sea lions and penguins, which will become the main characters in his short movie that he will make after the trip, Vinh wrote.
In 1997, Hoang Thi Minh Hong was the first Vietnamese to set foot on the South Pole.
