Once again, the Human Rights Watch World Report 2009, issued by the US Department of States, provides subjective assessments on the real situation in Vietnam, said a senior diplomat.
Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Phuong Nga made the statement on March 12 in Hanoi while responding to correspondents’ questions about the Report of the Human Rights Watch on human rights situation in Vietnam.
According to the Spokesperson, Vietnam pursues the consistent policy of respecting and ensuring human rights.
Over the past time, Vietnam has recorded huge achievements in guaranteeing that all citizens enjoy equal political, economic, cultural and social rights, said Ms. Nga.
“Vietnamese people, the direct beneficiaries of the policy, are fully aware of their rights,” the Spokesperson stated, adding that the international community acknowledges and appreciates Vietnam’s human right achievements.
Vietnam stands ready to shake hands and have dialogues with other countries and international organisations, including the US, in an effort to reinforce mutual understanding of differences and the issue of human rights.
