U22 Vietnam narrowly beat Thailand’s Chonburi FC 2-1 in its final match of Group A to qualify for the semi-finals of the 2012 Binh Duong Television (BTV) Cup on November 20.
Later, in the 57th minute striker Van Thang opened the scoring when he tapped the ball into the net after receiving it from left-winger Danh Ngoc’s accurate pass.
In the 89th minute the U22 team faced a dangerous situation when its defenders failed to prevent Chonburi’s Katxutti from equalizing the score.
However, in the third minute of the injury time Van Thang completed his double for the team.
With this thrilling win U22 Vietnam ranks second after host Becamex Binh Duong in Group A.
