Vietnam overwhelmed Sydney 3-0 on October 19 to clash against Malaysia in the final match of the ongoing International U21 Football Championships.

Vietnam overwhelmed Sydney (Australia) 3-0 on October 19 to clash against Malaysia in the final match of the ongoing International U21 Football Championships.

U19 Sydney players performed well in the first 25 minutes, causing numerous difficulties for hosts Vietnam. They even missed a clear chance to open the scoring in the fifth minute, but striker Clifford curled the ball just wide of the far post.

However, Dinh Bao’s sudden goal for Vietnam on 34 minutes changed the game’s dramatic situation.

Sydney applied the pressing tactic in the hope of equalising the score, but their intentional plan offered a chance for Vietnam to extend their lead.  

Two minutes after the interval, it was Dinh Bao again who set up for Minh Tuan to fire home.

The hosts continued to test Sydney goalkeeper Noval, and one of the players, Minh Tuan, defeated the Australian goalkeeper when the game was 8 minutes to go.

The same day, Malaysia outperformed Thailand 1-0 in another semi-final match to qualify for the final.

The much-awaited game between Vietnam and Malaysia will take place at Gia Lai stadium in the Central Highland province of Kon Tum on October 21.
