Typhoon Ragasa forecast to hit Vietnam on September 25 - 1

Many localities in Vietnam forecast to struggle with heavy rains due to the impact of Typhoon Ragasa

Typhoon Ragasa is predicted to make landfall in Vietnam, with localities from Quang Ninh to Ha Tinh to be hardest hit, according to Deputy Director of the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting Hoang Phuc Lam.

The eye of Typhoon Ragasa was about 230 kilometres east-northeast of the Philippines’ Luzon Island with maximum sustained winds of 184-221 km/h at 1 am on September 22.

At 1 am on September 25, the typhoon is likely to ravage the waters east of the Leizhou Peninsula in China with violent winds. It will then move west-southwest at around 20 km per hour over the next 72 to 120 hours with its intensity continuing to weaken.

This ninth storm in the East Sea is forecast to enter Vietnam on September 25, with localities from Quang Ninh to Ha Tinh to be affected the most.

Lam warned that Ragasa is comparable to the peak strength of Typhoon Yagi last year.

Due to the impact of Typhoon Ragasa, widespread heavy rain is likely in the northern and northern central regions on September 25-27.
