Train tickets for Tet go on sale.
Up to 14 sale booths were opened at Saigon Station in HCM City so customers didn't have to queue up.
Tran Van Huyet from Tan Phu District said buying tickets this year was much easier. "I only had to send a message to receive my number and time to arrive at the station. I only had to wait for 20 minutes to get my tickets," he said.
Tran Minh Tri from District 4 said this was the first time he went to the station to buy tickets but he had received a lot of help from the guard who showed him how to send a message to receive his waiting number.
According to Do Quang Van from Saigon Railway JSC, 20,000 seats were booked in the first hour. Up to 45,000 seats were successfully booked as of 11 am, of which 10,000 seats were paid for.
They will prioritise selling long-trip tickets then the short-trip tickets. Depending on the demands, they will organise more trains on main routes like HCM City-Danang, HCM City-Quang Ngai or HCM City-Nha Trang.
