Traditional handicrafts feature in France

An exhibition was opened in Paris to introduce traditional brocade weaving products of the Vietnamese ethnic minority people of Mong.

The Orange Fleurs d’Espoir association (OFE) and the Association of Batik International (ABI) on Jan. 31 opened an exhibition in Paris to introduce traditional brocade weaving products of the Vietnamese ethnic minority people of Mong.

Vu Thi Xuan Phuong, chairwoman of ABI, said that the activity aimed to preserve and promote traditional Vietnamese cultural values, especially brocade weaving, as well as contribute to improving lives of the Mong people.

Under the “Ethnic minorities and handicrafts” project, OFE and ABI helped two cooperatives in the northern province of Ha Giang improve weaving skills, expand markets and sell traditional handicraft products to France and many countries across the world.

All proceeds from the event will be used for this project.
