The accident occurred at about 3.20 pm as the vessel was travelling from Cu Lao Cham Island to Cua Dai.
According to border guards, the speedboat, identified as QNa-1108, began taking on water and sank about 4.3 nautical miles east of the Cua Dai border control station.
After receiving the distress report, the Danang Border Guard Command dispatched two rescue vessels and 14 personnel to the scene, coordinating with local authorities in the rescue operation.
All 19 people on board were brought to safety.
Authorities said the vessel belonged to Blue Sea River Co. Ltd. and was captained by Nguyen Duy Tam. It had departed Cu Lao Cham at 2 pm for the return trip to Cua Dai.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
