The fire broke out at the stern of the Bhaya tourist cruise boat at 5.15 pm on August 2.
Haiphong police said that the fire broke out at the stern of the Bhaya tourist cruise boat at 5.15 pm on August 2 when it was being taken from Ha Long Bay to Haiphong City for repairs.
The six crew members on the boat were unable to put out the fire which was spreading quickly. The captain then tried to direct it to shore in Phu Long Commune, Cat Hai District to seek help.
Haiphong fire services arrived and co-operated with other forces and local people to control the fire after half an hour.
