Tien Minh enters US Open third round

Top Vietnamese badminton player Tien Minh defeated Indian rival Chetan Anand on July 9, advancing to the third round of the 2014 US YONEX Open Badminton Championships.

Top Vietnamese badminton player Tien Minh defeated Indian rival Chetan Anand on July 9, advancing to the third round of the 2014 US YONEX Open Badminton Championships.

Tien Minh enters US Open third round - 1
Minh got off to a slow start. However, Chetan Anand (World No. 108) suffering from an injury couldn’t hold on and was forced to quit.

Minh (World No. 10) next faces off with Taiwanese rival Chia-Hsin Wan (No. 84) in the third round.

Other Vietnamese players competed unsuccessfully. In women’s singles, Vu Thi Trang (World No. 87) was easily defeated by Japan’s Anna Doi (No. 295).   

Vu Thi Trang/Nguyen Bao Minh lost to Nyl Yakura/ Brittney Tam (Canada) in the doubles’ event.
