Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has agreed to a project to build three bridges across the three rivers in the southern province of Long An.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has agreed to a project to build three bridges across the three rivers in the southern province of Long An.

The bridges, with a total investment of VND4.79 trillion (USD203.82 million), will be constructed across the Can Giuoc, Vam Co Dong and Vam Co Tay rivers.

Of the total investment, USD174 million will be sourced from Official Development Assistance capital, while the remainder from the locality’s reciprocal capital.

The bridge across Can Giuoc River would be 2.70 kilometres long and 14 metres wide. The bridges across Vam Co Dong and Vam Co Tay rivers would be six kilometres long and 13 metres wide each.

The three bridges will help connect Long An with HCM City and Tien Giang Province, helping to ease traffic pressure for national highways 1 and 50.

According to Dang Hoang Tuan, director of Long An’s Department of Transport, the project is expected to be started by late 2024.
