HCM City’s new Mien Dong Bus Station has seen serious congestion due to the soaring number of passengers as the Tet Lunar New Year holiday nears.
On January 16, the station received thousands of passengers. Many had to wait for one or two hours to take a bus to their home for Tet.
There weren't enough seats at the station's lounges. Many had to sit on the floor with long, tiring waits.
The new Mien Dong Bus Station serves passengers to the Central Highlands and some neighbouring provinces like Binh Duong and Binh Phuoc.
According to a driver, most of their Tet trips have been fully-booked.
Nguyen Van Tien, a student from the National University - HCM City said that he had to book the return tickets early to avoid congestion.
