The move, which follows the proposal from many localities, including Lang Son, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Hue, Danang, Phu Yen and Binh Thuan, is aimed to ease the pressure on Covid-19 quarantine sites in HCM City and other southern localities.

Under VNR’s plan, passengers will be arranged into the correct carriages for particular destinations.
Passengers can hire separate carriages for their families.
Trains have to ensure Covid-19 prevention regulations and operate at half capacity. Passengers are required to conform to regulations and wear a facemask, disinfect, keep social distancing, not gather in public and make health declarations. Trains will also be sterilised.
At present, only one pair of North-South trains are being operated, but they have suspended their stop at Saigon Station in HCM City and Di An Station in Binh Duong Province for Covid-19 prevention.
Earlier, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam also permitted airlines to offer charter flights based on demand from local people’s committees to transport their residents from HCM City and other southern localities.
