Southern region to face prolonged unseasonal rains

Southern localities, including Ho Chi Minh City, are expected to face numerous unseasonal rain spells during the first quarter of next year.

The Southern Regional Hydrometeorological Centre predicts that total rainfall in the southern region between January and March will be 20-50 percent higher than the average of previous years.

January and February will mark the peak of the dry season in southern localities

Specifically, January and February will mark the peak of the dry season in southern localities, resulting in limited rainfall. However, frequent unseasonal rains lasting several days are expected to push the total rainfall during this period above the long-term average in most areas.

The temperature in Ho Chi Minh City in January 2025 is expected to decrease due to the influence of the Northeast Monsoon. By late February, some areas in the city are predicted to experience peak temperatures of up to 35 degrees Celsius.

In March, the city would see some hot spells.

HCM City witnessed some unseasonal rain fronts in December this year.
