Vietnam Computerised Lottery Company (Vietlott) on July 21 presented the Jackpot 1 prize of its Power 6/55 lottery, worth nearly VND 103 billion (USD 3.93 million), to a South Korean winner.

The winner, whose identity was not disclosed, purchased the ticket on Nguyen Dang Dao Street in Bac Ninh Province. He works for a foreign company based in the province and said he has been playing Vietlott games for about five years.
He is the fourth foreign national to win a major Vietlott prize and the foreigner to claim the largest lottery jackpot in Vietnam to date.
According to Pham Quang Huy, deputy chief executive of Vietlott, three other foreign nationals have previously won major prizes, including two South Koreans and one Chinese national. The previous largest prize won by a foreigner was VND 32.6 billion (USD 1.24 million), also claimed by a South Korean.
Under Vietnamese tax regulations, lottery winnings exceeding VND 20 million are subject to 10 per cent personal income tax on the amount above the tax-free threshold.
Based on the value of the jackpot, the winner is expected to pay approximately VND 10.3 billion (USD 393,000) in personal income tax, which will be paid into the budget of Bac Ninh Province, where the winning ticket was issued.
Vietlott was established in 2011 as a state-owned enterprise under the Ministry of Finance, with charter capital of VND 500 billion (USD 19.11 million).
In 2025, the company generated revenue of VND 9.686 trillion (USD 369.95 million), equivalent to average daily sales of about VND 26.5 billion (USD 1.01 million). During the year, it recorded 32 million winning tickets and paid out more than VND 5.34 trillion (USD 203.96 million) in prize money.
For 2026, Vietlott has set a revenue target of VND 10.852 trillion (USD 414.48 million), an increase of about 12 per cent from the previous year and the highest annual target since the company began operations. The goal is equivalent to average daily sales of around VND 30 billion (USD 1.15 million).
Under current regulations, Vietlott allocates 55 per cent of ticket sales revenue to its prize fund. After deducting operating costs, the company expects to report pre-tax profit of approximately VND 440 billion (USD 16.81 million).
