A rare and endangered king cobra weighing about seven kilos was found in the garden of a household in Ninh Noi Village, An Binh Commune, in northern Phu Tho Province.
Local police and forest rangers were dispatched after receiving reports from residents of Ninh Noi Village. The team used specialised equipment and handled the snake carefully to ensure safety and avoid harming the protected animal.
Authorities said the king cobra, typically found in natural forests, is highly endangered, making its presence in a residential area unusual.
The snake was later released into a forest in Phu Tho, far from homes, in line with wildlife protection rules.
An Binh Commune Police advised residents not to approach or attempt to capture wild or dangerous animals and to report any sightings to local authorities for safe and timely handling.
