Beyond experts’ expectations, marksman Thanh Dat was awarded a gold medal in the men’s 50m Rifle Prone in Myanmar on December 11.

Dat scored 201.3 points, 1.3 points more than second-placed Tortungpanich Napis of Thailand, and 21 points more than third placed Lim Wen Abel of Singapore.

In the men’s 50m Rifle Prone team, Thanh Dat, Duy Hoang, and Le Huyen finished second after Thailand’s.

Vietnam’s shooting team plans to win just one or two gold medals at this event.

Dat’s victory has brought the number of Vietnam’s gold medals to 10, ranking the country second on the medal tally.

The official opening ceremony is due to take place on the evening of December 11.
