Sapa Town in Lao Cai Province turned cold July 6 after a prolonged heat wave in northern Vietnam, as temperature dropped to 12C, the lowest summer measure in 10 years.
Luu Minh Hai, director of the weather-station in Lao Cai Province, told DTiNews the thermometer hit 12.6C.
"It is very strange," he said. "The temperature has been very hot in recent years."

Locals and tourists in Sa Pa scrambled for warm clothes, unprepared for the drop from 35-38C in recent weeks, and gathered around street vendor grills.
Meteorologists in Vietnam said the unusual weather was a result of global climate change.The cold spell has been causing heavy rain in Lao Cai Province over the past two days. The rain caused flooding of streets in Lao Cai City on July 4.

The sudden heavy rain caused flooding in Muong Hum Commune, Bat Xat District, and swept away a local man who was driving a motorbike near Ta Loi Spring. His body has not been found.
