On May 12, representatives from the Quang Binh Fellow Countrymen Association in Taiwan (China) confirmed that the ashes of four Vietnamese nationals who died of carbon monoxide poisoning in an apartment in Taoyuan City had been repatriated to Vietnam.

By midday, the ashes of the victims had been brought to Noi Bai International Airport by relatives and friends in Taiwan and then transported by a volunteer organisation back to their hometowns by car.

The four victims, two men and two women aged between 20 and 27, included three individuals from Quang Binh province and one from Nghe An province.

Previously, at around 10 pm on May 3, authorities in Taoyuan City discovered the bodies of four Vietnamese citizens inside a rental apartment.

When emergency responders arrived at the scene, they found the water heater in the bathroom still running, with all doors and windows tightly shut. The victims were found in various locations throughout the apartment.

Following an investigation, Taiwanese authorities concluded that the four individuals died from carbon monoxide poisoning, caused by a leak from the gas water heater.
