Authorities of the central province of Quang Nam have asked some local hydropower plants to discharge water to prevent the possible risk of flooding.

According to Quang Nam’s Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting director Truong Tuyen, a low-pressure area has appeared in the East Sea. It would turn into a tropical depression in the next 20 hours and affect the central region of Vietnam, including Quang Nam.

On October 13-16, Quang Nam would see torrential rain with a rainfall of between 200-400 mm.

Local hydropower plants have been requested to discharge their water from 11:30 am on October 12 to 10 am on October 14.

The Dak Mi 4, Song Bung 4, A Vuong and Song Tranh hydropower plants were all included in the list.

Over the past two days, Quang Nam and many other central localities have been facing severe flooding following heavy rain.
