The project is 100% funded by the Norwegian People's Aid organisation with the aim to locate areas in the community where mines are bombs are still being buried underneath the ground. This will help to prevent casualties and unwanted injuries for the people who live and work in these areas. The project is expected to carry out in Hong Tien Commune, Huong Tra District, and be completed within a year.
Earlier, a similar project at a cost of VND 168 billion (USD 8.7 million) under the sponsorship of Vietnam's central government and the American Veterans Aid Fund in Vietnam, has been put into implementation in the communes of A Luoi, Nam Dong, Phong Dien, Huong Tra, Phu Loc Districts and Huong Thuy.
However, the aim of the new project is to clear the site, clean the environment, reduce the risk of bombs and mines; assist bomb explosion victims; reduce poverty and reinforce national security in the community.
Thua Thien Hue Province is an area that has been left with many bombs and mines from the war, mostly concentrated in Nam Dong and A Luoi Communes.
