Vu Thu Giang, 41, has been paralysed for the past six years due to meningitis.
"I've had to depend on my husband and my two sons daily," Giang said. "My family has incurred a big debt following my years of hospital treatment. And we're facing more difficulties and pains now as my first son has developed kidney failure."
The poor woman burst into tears when talking about her poor son.
"My 20-year-old son Ho Ngoc Hanh was diagnosed in the third stage of kidney failure two years ago," she said. "He used to be a strong young man and worked as a construction worker with his father to support the family. But now he can only stay home doing some light housework."
The woman said that they had also borrowed more money to cover medical treatment for her son but the treatment fees have now gone beyond their capacities.
"We've now owed up to VND700 million," she said. "My husband's modest daily income of VND300,000 is not enough to cover medical fees for me and our eldest son, while our young son is just nine. I'm willing to stop my treatment to spare money for our sons and I really hope that people can help save my ill son. He's too young."
Meanwhile, Hanh said that he hoped he can have good health to take care of his ill mother. "I sometimes have to hide my problems as my mum has enough pain," he said. "I don't want to see her worrying about me. I had to go to hospital every two months for regular checkups but recently I've had to skip doctor appointments as we don't have any money left."
Father Ho Ngoc Lam, said that he is very worried for his wife and son as he cannot find any more money to cover their medical treatment.
"My son's doctor appointment nears but I don't know where to find the money," the man said. "I really hope that we can receive some support."
Head of Trung Tien Village, Pham Viet Vo, said that Lam's family has faced lots of difficulties as both his wife and son are suffering serious diseases.
"Local authorities, their relatives, and neighbours have also tried to support them but they need more support as their diseases would need long and costly treatment."
