Speaking about the two Vietnamese citizens murdered in the Philippines by the Abu Sayyaf terrorist group, the PM said: “I am very upset and angry to hear that two Vietnamese citizens were abducted and barbarically and inhumanly murdered. The terrorists who caused the deaths of Vietnamese citizens must be severely punished. I extend my condolences to the families of the victims.”

Prime Minister Phuc called on the international community to unite in fighting terrorism for the sake of peace and stability, development, and prosperity.
On July 5, the Filipino army found the bodies of two Vietnamese citizens on the southern island of Basilan. According to the Filipino media, they were killed by Abu Sayyaf terrorist group.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and Embassy of Vietnam in the Philippines have asked Philippine authorities to verify press reports that say two Vietnamese sailors were killed by the Abu Sayyaf terrorist group, said MoFA’s spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang.
“Vietnam strongly condemns all barbarous, inhuman kidnapping and assassination acts. Such acts must be punished properly,” she noted.
