According to official data, Vietnam has lost 1.2 million soldiers in wars defending the country. Of these, more than 300,000 remain unidentified or missing.

Chinh reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to continuing efforts to locate, repatriate and identify the remains of fallen soldiers.

“We will not overlook even the slightest lead, no matter how small the hope, so that no martyr is forgotten and no family waits in vain,” he said.

Following the memorial, the Prime Minister and delegates took part in the burial of the remains at their final resting place in Doc Ba Dac Cemetery.

Since 2001, Vietnam has recovered and repatriated 11,533 sets of remains, including 8,188 from Cambodia and 3,345 within the country.
