Third prize winner, b&w photo of a silversmith in the guild street of Hang Bac, taken by Ho Si Trung
This year’s contest, the 47th edition, attracted the largest number of participants to date, the board said.
The photos capture many facets of the diversity of life found in Hanoi, covering urban and rural landscapes, historical relics and architectural works, traditional customs and other cultural aspects of life.
“Hanoi is a very familiar theme for photo exhibitions and contests. So it becomes difficult for the photographers, requiring them to observe carefully and wait for the right moments to take photos,” said Dang Dinh An, chairman of the association.
First prize in the contest was won by Nguyen Xuan Loc, for a photo showing the joy of people taking part in múa sạp (bamboo dance in which dancers hop in between bamboo sticks being clapped in a rhythm by four to six people.)
The photos will be displayed at the Exhibition House, 45 Tràng Tiền Street, Hanoi, until October 11.
