Northern region forecasted to embrace intense cold weather

The northern region of Vietnam has been forecasted to face an intense cold snap with the lowest temperature below 10 degrees Celsius.

According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the cold weather will strengthen over northern and central localities starting this evening, March 17, resulting in further temperature falls. Localities from Ha Tinh to Khanh Hoa will see rain on March 17-18.

Temperatures in northern and north-central Vietnam will fall to 13-16 degrees Celsius, with some northern mountainous areas dropping below 10 degrees. Daytime highs will range between 17 and 19 degrees Celsius.

The cold wave will persist until March 19, with temperatures warming from March 20. The chill will be mainly in the nights and early mornings.

Hanoi's temperatures range from 14-16 degrees Celsius at night to 18-20 degrees Celsius during the day. From March 20, highs will rise to 24-26 degrees Celsius.
