From tomorrow, September 18, the north’s temperature would drop by 3-4 degrees centigrade with the highest temperature of between 28-30 degrees centigrade.
This evening, many northern localities, including Hanoi, would face heavy rains and strong winds. Some areas would have hail.
Strong winds have also predicted for the Gulf of Tonkin.
Earlier, Mai Van Khiem, director of the National Hydro-meteorological Forecast Centre, said that this year’s winter in the north would come earlier than usual and the region would experience cold snaps with the temperatures much lower than usual.
The phenomenon is due to the impact of La Niña which will make the sea surface temperature across the equatorial Eastern Central Pacific Ocean to be lower than normal by 3 to 5 °C in the last months of the year.
