According to local police, following investigations on a group of suspects who were co-operating with people in Quang Tri Province to trade drugs into the city, they checked a car at 3 pm on May 23 and found nine kilos of ketamine inside.
"The car was running through the Mui Trau Tunnel in Hoa Vang District when police stopped it for a check," the police said. "The car's occupants, Tra Van Cong, 33, and Dang Quang Hieu, 25, were hiding a bag containing nine packs under their seats. The men said that the packs contained dried tea but checking them police found white powder which was then tested to be ketamine. The white substance weighs nine kilos."
This was the largest amount of drugs seized so far by Danang police.
At the police station, Cong admitted that the substance was ketamine which they bought from a young man in Lao Bao Town, Quang Tri Province and brought to Danang City to sell to users.
Cong and Hieu both tested positive for drugs.
Police are further investigating the case.
