At around 6 pm on Wednesday, the market is deserted.

Most traders have time to talk and scroll through their phones. Many decide to close their stall early.

The market is home to around 400 stalls, but, at present, only half of them are leased.

Lots of stalls are used for storing goods.

The market was previously open all day and night and was especially busy after 6 pm. Despite efforts to lure customers, there are more vendors than customers.

Nguyen Tien, a market trader, said that the Covid-19 pandemic caused the sombre scene. Before the pandemic, her shop was quite crowded with customers. But now, she usually sells a few items a day.
