This year's festival is expected to be held on a larger scale compared to previous events and aims to promote Buon Ma Thuot coffee, develop Vietnamese speciality coffee, and honour domestic coffee growers and businesses, the organiser said.

The coffee festival will also create an opportunity for Dak Lak to introduce its potential and tourism strengths, as well as promoting investment into coffee trading and processing, and other agricultural products.

The 2023 Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival will feature 18 main events organised in Buon Ma Thuot City and some other activities held across Dak Lak Province. Some of the main events include a provincial investment promotion conference, a coffee trade fair, a seminar on the development of the coffee industry, as well as a business-matching seminar and photo exhibitions on Vietnamese coffee culture and the worldwide history of coffee.

There will also be music performances, a street carnival, a festival of light, competitions for coffee farmers and baristas, a video-making contest on Buon Ma Thuot coffee, and a contest for handicrafts made from coffee trees.

The organiser said that they have again invited H'Hen Nie - Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 and Top 5 Miss Universe World 2018 to be the communications ambassador for this year's festival. Born in Dak Lak, H'Hen Nie has done well in introducing local culture and specialities to both domestic and international visitors.

"H'Hen Nie is an Ede woman, born in Dak Lak, who has great influence," the organiser said. "Although already famous at home and abroad, H'Hen Niê has always remained genuine and friendly to everyone. In social activities, she always uses her influence to promote her homeland, including coffee products from Dak Lak."

Dubbed the coffee capital of Vietnam, Dak Lak boasts the largest farming area in the nation with around 210,000 hectares with an annual output of more than 520,000 tonnes.
