Nguyen Tien Minh is the only Vietnamese player qualifying for the second round of the singles event at the Badminton Asia Championship in Qingdao, China.

His next opponent will be Yong Zhao Ashton Chen of Singapore, who won 21-2, 21-2 over Trikishmyrat Polarov of Turmenistan.
Earlier, Minh’s teammates Vu Thi Trang and Nguyen Thi Sen both failed to grab a ticket to the women’s single main round.
Trang and Sen will team up to compete in women’s doubles against Choi hey-in and Kim So-young from the Republic of Korea on April 18.
On the men’s side, Bui Bang Duc and Dao Manh Thang will play Malaysia’s V Shem Goh and Khim Wah Lim.
