The latest Word Badminton Federation (WBF) men’s rankings, announced on February 28, reveal top Vietnamese player Nguyen Tien Minh has managed to remain in ninth place. Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei’s hold on world number one proved unshakeable. He was followed by China’s Chen Long and Du Pengyu, while reigning Olympic and World Champion Lin Dan could do no better than 13th.
In the female rankings, China’s Li Xuerui extended her reign as world number one, ahead of India’s Saina Nehwal and compatriot Wang Yihan .
Chinese players also dominated the rankings for both women’s and mixed doubles. Top position in the men’s doubles went to Danish duo Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen.
All of the world’s leading players will compete at the All England Open Badminton Championships in London from March 5–10.
Minh is seeded eighth at the championship and is therefore likely to face tougher opponents like China’s Wang Zhengming and Lee Chong Wei.
