Earlier in late 2022, the Ministry of Public Security issued a decision to prosecute the criminal case on producing and selling counterfeit products at the Holland Milk Company which is located in Hanoi's Bac Tu Liem District.
According to the police, the working group of the ministry simultaneously conducted a check at the company's head office, branches, and warehouses on August 24 and 25, 2022 to inspect the implementation of food safety regulations.
Through investigation, 66 out of 67 samples of 33 products taken for testing only had quality indicators of less than 70 percent compared to the announced and stated on the box label. This meant that 29,400 formula milk cans valued at VND4.1 billion have lower quality than claimed.
The inspection team then seized 25,667 formula milk cans while 2,011 others valued at VND320 million had been sold.
The police agency said that Nguyen Trung Vuong, who is a bachelor in pharmacy, was well aware of the harm that his low-quality products would cause to customers. However, he still directed his employees to produce and sell them for the purpose of minimising production costs for high profits.
