Earlier, on May 13, Le Van Thuc, 58, contacted Tien Thanh Ward police to voluntarily surrender the two slow lorises so they could be transferred to authorities for care and legal handling.
After receiving the animals, ward police worked with the Ham Thuan Nam Forest Protection Department and related agencies to examine their health and provide care before releasing them back into the wild.
The pygmy slow loris, scientifically known as Nycticebus pygmaeus, is listed in Group IB of Vietnam’s Red Data Book and classified as a rare and endangered species under priority protection.
