At the meeting, the two sides briefed each other on their countries’ socio-economic developments and reviewed the two armies’ cooperation in recent years.
They discussed measures to further promote national defence relations in the future, including exchanging visits by high-level delegations, hosting dialogues on national defence policies, training staff and providing humanitarian support for disasters.
They also discussed issues of mutual concern for the sake of peace, stability, development and prosperity in the region and the world.
The same day, Gen Iwasaki paid a courtesy visit to Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and called at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the Vietnam Military History Museum.
