The northern province of Lao Cai has tightened its Covid-19 prevention and control measures. Gatherings of over 50 people are not allowed in the province, while those with the high number of participants must be approved by local authorities.

Schools in high risk areas for Covid-19 infection are requested to revert to online studying.

Meanwhile, several non-essential services including beauty spas and hair salons will be closed for ten days, starting from February 24

Restaurants and cafés are only permitted to offer delivery services, not on-site services.

By February 23, the province had 17,882 Covid-19 patients, including 7,064 discharged from hospital. Currently, 10,804 patients are still being quarantined for treatment.

Ha Long City in the northern province of Quang Ninh has also closed many non-essential services, including karaoke parlours, beauty spas and gaming stations just 10 days after being reopened.

Quang Ninh is witnessing a surge in Covid-19 cases with up to 2,500 per day.

The province has ordered the suspension of mass gatherings such as festivals and sports events.
