Hundreds of people in the central province of Nghe An’s Ky Son District have been relocated because of flooding and landslides following heavy rains.

Ky Son District has been facing torrential rain since September 4, flooding nearly 160 local houses and damaging 50 hectares of crops and hundreds of fish ponds. This has caused losses of VND50 billion.

Around 36 households in Nam Tien 2 Commune are in areas affected by landslides. They have been moved to the local nursery school to ensure safety. Around 60 spots prone to landslides have been identified on local roads.

The landslides have damaged water pipes linked to six residential areas in the commune. The rain has continued, posing further risks of landslides.
