The Hanh Phuc Hospital in An Giang Province has been fined for announcing about their upcoming paid Covid-19 vaccine service

According to the inspectorate at the An Giang Provincial Department of Information and Communications, the Hanh Phuc Hospital was fined VND50 million (USD2,174) for sharing fake information on their website and Facebook.

In a meeting with the An Giang Provincial Department of Health on July 16, Lu Quoc Hung, director of Hanh Phuc Hospital, admitted their wrongdoing. Hung said the announcement had been taken down on July 15 and they would accept punishment.

According to Hung, one of 31 companies in HCM City, which has the licence to import Covid-19 vaccines to Vietnam, promised to provide to Hanh Phuc Hospital 10,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine.

"They asked me whether I wanted the doses and I was thrilled. They told me to put up the announcement for paid vaccine service and wait for approval from the Ministry of Health. Each shot is estimated to cost VND1.5million (USD65)," Hung said.

Hung said Hanh Phuc Hospital has only received applications, they hadn't collected any fees yet. From July 10 to 15, over 36,000 people applied for the service. Hung said he was also surprised at the demand.
