According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, many localities in northern and the northern central region, including Hanoi, will see the average temperature of between nine and 12 degrees centigrade until December 20. This is the strongest cold snap of the winter so far.

Many streets in Hanoi such as Hai Ba Trung, Dinh Tien Hoang, Le Thanh Tong and Trang Thi are home to the homeless.

Most of them are poor labourers from other localities who come to Hanoi to look for jobs. Their home is pavement, parks or the space under bridges.
