The Southern Regional Hydrometeorological Centre said on August 14 that temperatures across Ho Chi Minh City and other southern localities would range from 24 to 27 degrees Celsius at night and 31 to 34 degrees Celsius during the day.

On the evening of August 13, thunderstorms affected several areas in the north and north-west of Ho Chi Minh City, with rainfall generally ranging from 5 to 40mm and exceeding 40mm in some locations.
Water levels along the southern coast remain high but are expected to decline slowly. The highest water level recorded at the Vung Tau station in Ho Chi Minh City is forecast to reach 3.65 to 3.75 metres between 1 pm and 3 pm today.
The weather agency warned that low-lying areas could experience flooding when the tide peaks. High tides could also slow the drainage of floodwater through rivers in the region.
Residents should also be alert in the evening for strong offshore currents as the tide recedes, which could pose risks to maritime and coastal tourism activities, particularly around ports and beaches.
