The northern region will have heavy rains from Saturday evening following some severely hot days.
According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, the rainy weather will affect the whole region in two days from July 8-9.
Rains will mainly occur in the late afternoons and evenings, the centre said, adding that thunderstorms and whirlwinds may occur in some mountainous areas.
The rain will help lower the temperatures on July 9 to between 30-37 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the severe hot weather will still hit the northern region on July 8 with highest temperatures reaching over 39 degrees Celsius.
The heat wave is forecast to return in the north from July 10 and will last for many days.
Meanwhile, the northern central region from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien Hue will face continuous hot weather with average temperatures of between 36-39 degrees Celsius.
The centre said that the hot weather will lessen from mid July in the north.
