The new area will form part of the existing high-tech park and focus on scientific research, the development of high and strategic technologies, pilot production of technology-based products and the commercialisation of research outcomes.

The expanded zone will also support technology incubation, training, technology transfer and other activities in line with Vietnam's high-tech development strategy.

The HCM City People's Committee has been tasked with overseeing the expansion, including mobilising financial and human resources, implementing infrastructure projects and ensuring the effective operation of the park.

Local authorities are also required to prepare and approve detailed planning schemes and define the boundaries of the expansion area in line with the approved scale and location.

The new regulations govern investment, construction, development and state management activities across both the expansion area and the existing high-tech park, which was established in 2002.
