Hoa, on Tan Mai Street, said that whenever it heavily rains, her area is often flooded. The drainage system has been blocked, so local households have to use their own pumps to deal with the flooding.
The flooding affected traffic. Lam who lives in Thinh Liet said, after heavy rains, water from drains overflows, emitting a foul smell. People have reported the problem to local authorities, but nothing has been done.
The National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting said that the rainfall in Hanoi on Monday would be 20-40mm for 24 hours. The figure would reach 60mm in some areas.
Hanoi has been forecasted to face rain until May 14 with the sharp temperature fall. The highest temperature during this time would not be higher than 28 degrees centigrade.
