The figures were reported at the meeting about the new virus and solutions held by Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung on January 30. Hanoi Department of Health announced that there were no confirmed cases in Hanoi but 14 people have been monitored. They all returned from outbreak areas and had developed a fever.

As of now, all of them are in good condition and three people have been cured. One case was tested negative for the new coronavirus. They are still waiting for the test results of other people.

The department previously called for better monitoring at lower levels. As monitoring are tightened as borders and airports, Hanoi Department of Health have published hotlines for coronavirus information.

According to Chung, health officials will announce information, general knowledge and preventive measures against the new virus to the public. He then emphasised that they must step up measures to raise awareness about wild animal trading and consuming including civet, especially during the spring festivals.

"People should wear masks when attending festivals or going out to protect themselves," Chung said.

The Department of Education and Training was asked to direct schools to promote preventive measures to students and parents. Schools should also be disinfected.

The health sector was asked to be proactive in storing and managing equipment and supplies.
